Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even locate it using an app for smartphones.
Put the key fob face up on a clean surface. Find the button to let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then slowly pull it up.
Locking the Door
Volvo's remote key fobs can unlock the doors, tailgate and flap for filling up the fuel in your vehicle with a touch of a button. Remote key fobs can also switch on the ignition and trigger the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, in the event that it's fitted. It's no longer necessary to search for your keys or get locked out of your vehicle.
You might not be aware of key fob features that are hidden. One of these is a manual lock/unlock button that you can press in case your key fob battery dies.
The key fob should be held with the Volvo logo in the front to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open the cover that hides the key blade that is manual. You'll require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."
Beginning the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs offer an unbeatable level of convenience and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, as with any battery-powered electronic device key fobs may lose its charge or cease working after a certain period of time. If you notice that your key fob isn't as responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace its battery.

You can remove it by sliding it downwards and to the right. The cover will then fall loose and slide off leaving the manual key blade within! If you are unable to locate the button, check the newly revealed manual key access for the lever or slot that is hidden.
Close the Windows
One of the hidden features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you are able to roll down all of the windows instantly when you use them. This is a great feature when you're trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just need some fresh air while driving.
To unlock the windows, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof in case your car comes with one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can shut all the windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.
You can also use your key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. It will create an ominous sound that will draw attention and deter thieves. It will also assist you return home safely if you've been out all night. This feature is helpful if you live in a dangerous area, or want to keep your family safe when you are away from home.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has packed its key fobs with a many useful features. These are great when you're slammed with shopping, or helping your children take their sports gear home after a workout.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs are more convenient than a mechanical car key. They aren't always working perfectly and the batteries may go out. If you're in a hurry or don't want to visit a shop to have your key fob reset, you can achieve it at home.
Set out your keys batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button on the lower left corner of the key fob and slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure beneath.
The key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you'll be able open all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you will be able to close the windows and shut the sunroof if they are equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should include a method to reset the system.
